After more than four years of nurturing and developing her luxury handbag design and craftsmanship project, along with over two decades of in-depth research into luxury handbags, Hientje Nguyen unveiled her collection, “The Light of Nature.”
The collection features two signature lines: “The Butterfly,” comprising 15 unique designs, and “The Lotus,” showcasing another 15 distinctive creations.
Each design draws inspiration from the beauty of nature and its most radiant, captivating moments. In particular, the collection celebrates the remarkable transformation of a cocoon into a butterfly and the breathtaking bloom of a vast lotus pond. Through these artistic interpretations, Hientje Nguyen brings nature’s elegance, vitality, and spirit of renewal into every handbag design.
Each design captures a unique facet of nature’s enchanting beauty, expressed through a dazzling array of colors, forms, and details inspired by graceful butterflies and radiant lotus flowers.
Perhaps everyone born into this world shares a deep love for nature and a profound appreciation for the wonders it holds. Designer Hientje Nguyen is no exception, and it is from this passion that The Light of Nature collection was born.
One of the collection’s most distinctive highlights is its inspiration from the transformation of a cocoon into a butterfly—a powerful symbol that mirrors Hientje Nguyen’s own journey of nurturing and developing this creative project for more than four years. Just as a butterfly emerges after a period of growth and transformation, the collection represents the culmination of years of dedication, research, and artistic evolution, finally taking flight as a celebration of beauty, creativity, and renewal.
The most important message that designer Hientje Nguyen wishes to convey through this collection to young people with dreams and ambitions is:
“Continue to nurture your passion. With enough effort, perseverance, and time, you will eventually shine.”
And:
“Always stay committed to your dreams. In time, the lotus will bloom, and remarkable success will follow.”
Hientje is a creative talent with a strong passion and ambitious vision for the fashion industry. However, her journey was not without challenges. In the early years, she did not receive support from her family. In fact, her mother once gathered all of her drawings and design sketches, burned them, and discouraged her from pursuing a career in the arts.
She believed that the profession offered limited financial rewards and would require far greater sacrifices than other careers that provided easier paths to income and opportunities.
However, Hientje held a different belief. While creative work may not always generate significant economic value, it undoubtedly brings immense spiritual fulfillment. The meaning of life and genuine happiness are treasures that money alone cannot buy.
One of the most distinctive features of this collection is the transformative nature of the Butterfly series. These handbag designs can evolve from simple, monochromatic forms into dazzling, multi-colored creations with captivating silhouettes. The transformation mirrors the journey of a cocoon becoming a butterfly—starting from simplicity and emerging into a radiant display of beauty, color, and confidence.
Through this artistic concept, Hientje Nguyen celebrates perseverance, personal growth, and the belief that every dream, when nurtured with patience and determination, has the potential to flourish into something extraordinary.
All designs are meticulously handcrafted, with 80% of the work done by hand. The mystical effect of the colors on the bags is also created by the artisans of the Hientje team, who paint together to produce a striking visual impression.
All materials are genuine leather, using the finest outer leather layer, ensuring high durability and being environmentally and human-friendly.
During the runway show, the talented designer Hientje Nguyen emotionally shared: “When I see my designs and my team’s work shining on the runway, I am truly overwhelmed. After 4 years and 4 months of continuous effort, today we are able to present unique designs that have never been seen before in Vietnam, and even in the world, with highly advanced transformative bag designs. This can be considered one of the pioneering innovations in the luxury handbag design and craftsmanship industry, not only in Vietnam but also globally.”
Designer Hientje Nguyen also added: “After more than 20 years of in-depth research in the global luxury handbag design field, I realized that Vietnam does not yet have this industry in a truly established sense. That is why I returned to Vietnam while living in the Netherlands—to contribute and bring the latest innovative creative advancements to the fashion industry. In particular, I have a strong passion for luxury handbag design, which is still relatively in its early stages here.”
Hientje Nguyen believes that with attention and collaboration alongside other talented designers in the field of luxury handbag design and craftsmanship, Vietnam will soon emerge and develop in parallel with other advanced countries. Although we are late, with our own creativity and innovation, we will not follow behind them but move side by side, jointly contributing the latest advancements to this industry.
